VCU Participates in SCAJ 2024
The VCU team, along with CEO Mr. James, is currently present at SCAJ 2024 (Specialty Coffee Association Japan) – Asia’s largest specialty coffee exhibition held at Tokyo Big Sight, Japan.
SCAJ 2024 is the biggest coffee fair in Asia. This annual exhibition gathers major companies involved in coffee production, processing, distribution, wholesale, and retail from Japan and around the world. Now in its 21st year, SCAJ attracts between 50,000 and 70,000 visitors each year. This time, the team is honored to bring specialty coffees, such as Gia Lai’s Fine Robusta and Specialty Arabica, to the land of cherry blossoms and introduce them to international friends.

VCU x Southern Select Co.
Southern Select is our distributor in Japan. VCU will be partnering with them to introduce Vietnam’s Specialty Coffee to visitors at SCAJ. In 2023, VCU and Southern Select also joined together to participate in SCAJ. Following that exhibition, VCU secured numerous export contracts for the Japanese market.
In 2024, VCU continues its partnership with Southern Select to showcase Vietnam’s specialty coffee to an international audience.
According to preliminary statistics from the General Department of Customs, coffee exports to Japan increased by 4.8% in volume, 48.2% in export value, and 41.4% in price compared to the first six months of 2023, reaching 63,127 tons, valued at $238.84 million, with an average price of $3,783.5 per ton, accounting for over 7% of total volume and total export value.
