Robusta coffee is beloved by many for its rich flavor and unique aroma. For the Robusta Natural line, as it is selected from coffee cherries with a ripeness rate above 97%, it offers a sweet aftertaste, thick and creamy crema, and a rich flavor that is especially favored.

Natural Processing Method

The ripe coffee cherries are harvested and sun-dried to reduce moisture content to 9-12%. In some regions, concrete yards are used for drying coffee, while in certain factories, raised beds are employed to prevent the coffee from mixing with impurities and to ensure cleanliness.

After drying, the coffee is hulled to remove the dry parchment, resulting in green coffee beans that are then graded, sorted by weight, and roasted. Unlike some other methods, Robusta Natural does not require washing and is simply sun-dried.

The Natural processing method has many advantages, such as being easy to perform, environmentally friendly, and helping to preserve the coffee’s natural flavor with a strong bitterness that suits the Vietnamese palate.

How Do Robusta Natural and Robusta Honey Differ?

Essentially, both come from Robusta coffee beans, but they differ in their processing methods. Honey processing creates a unique and diverse flavor in coffee culture. The Honey processing method requires meticulousness and cleanliness, resulting in a delightful experience for customers, with a sweet taste, balanced acidity, and a hint of fruitiness.

However, the amount of green coffee beans processed by the Honey method is still insufficient to meet market demand, and the quality can sometimes be inconsistent between farms and farmers. Moreover, the price is relatively high for most medium and small coffee shops.

Robusta coffee, after being processed by the Natural method, graded, and sorted by weight, is color-sorted. This step produces coffee beans with a high ripeness rate, removing defective, green, and insect-damaged beans. As a result, the quality of the coffee beans is ensured at a ripeness rate of over 97%, but the price is much lower than Robusta Honey.
