What is Coffee Color Sorting?
Coffee color sorting is an essential step in the coffee production and processing line, applicable to both green coffee beans and roasted beans. Through color sorting machines, beans that are black, green, immature, burnt, or of substandard quality are completely removed.
Color Sorting for Roasted Coffee Beans
Coffee color sorting, also known as color grading, is a crucial process in coffee production. The color sorting machine detects the color of the beans and uses compressed air valves to separate those with unacceptable colors from the rest, leaving only the high-quality beans.
At VCU, we sort roasted coffee beans to remove any burnt, low-quality, or non-standard beans, resulting in a uniform color that ensures delicious coffee quality.
Achieving uniform-colored beans without the presence of substandard beans, which can affect both the quality and flavor of the coffee, requires several other factors, such as the quality of the input beans, roasting process, and roasting techniques.
Color Sorting for Green Coffee Beans
Similar to the color sorting of roasted beans, the color sorting machine eliminates black, yellow, worm-damaged, broken, and immature green beans to ensure quality and uniformity for the roasting, grinding, and brewing processes.
VCU’s Roasted and Green Coffee Beans
VCU takes pride in being one of the largest producers of 100% pure roasted coffee on the Vietnamese market. We confidently offer our customers high-quality, consistent beans without additives or blends.
Advantages of 100% Pure Roasted Coffee:
- Pure and Natural: No additional ingredients are used in the roasting process, preserving the natural flavors of each coffee bean.
- Preserves Unique Flavors: Each type of coffee has a unique flavor. With the pure roasting method, VCU retains the distinct flavors, providing a rich and authentic coffee experience.
- High and Stable Quality: The roasting process is tightly controlled with steps like stone separation and color sorting to ensure a consistent quality, minimizing defective or broken beans.
To ensure the finished coffee beans delivered to customers are free from stones, metals, and other impurities, VCU performs thorough stone separation after both green and roasted beans processing. This process removes foreign objects with higher specific gravity than coffee, preventing any health risks and potential damage to grinding machines.
