In Vietnam, Robusta coffee accounts for 90% of the country’s total coffee production. In recent years, the trend of using Robusta Honey coffee has been growing due to its quality and flavor.
Robusta Honey is not a blend of coffee with honey. Instead, it refers to Robusta coffee that is processed using the Honey method. This name is derived from the golden color the coffee takes on after processing, similar to honey, as it retains some or all of the mucilage on the surface during drying. With the Honey processing method, fermentation is not required, so the coffee beans retain their silverskin layer.
The Honey process utilizes the mucilage, which contains a significant amount of sugar (8-12%). This layer seeps into the coffee beans, enhancing the aroma and flavor of the roasted Robusta Honey coffee. As a result, after roasting, the Robusta coffee has a light fruity aroma, a sweet aftertaste, and retains its strong characteristic profile.
What makes Robusta Honey a premium coffee lies in the fact that it requires a ripeness rate of over 97%, which demands significant effort, technique, and time to achieve. Consequently, the price of green Robusta Honey beans or roasted beans is higher than other types of Robusta.

At VCU, Robusta Honey coffee is sourced from local farmers, with careful selection to ensure a ripeness rate of 97% to guarantee consistent flavor and color.
After purchasing, the coffee is brought to VCU’s green bean processing plant to be processed using the Honey method. The beans are meticulously sorted by weight and size to produce a variety of grades, including S13, S16, and S18, with a full body, high density, and excellent aroma.
Once high-quality green beans are obtained, VCU proceeds to roast them according to customer orders.
VCU Coffee owns a roasting plant that meets ISO 22000:2018 and FDA standards, ensuring that the roasted coffee meets quality standards. Additionally, the plant is equipped with two industrial roasting machines with a capacity of 60kg per batch and a production capacity of up to 80 tons per month. This enables us to provide a stable and high-quality supply for both domestic and export markets.
The roasting machines use modern Hot-air technology.
VCU’s coffee roasters are experienced, skilled, and continually improving their craft, which allows us to understand the development of coffee beans during the roasting process. Therefore, roasted Robusta Honey coffee always meets quality standards and maximizes its inherent flavor.
After roasting, Robusta Honey coffee is color-sorted, de-stoned, and impurities, black beans, defects, and broken beans are removed.
The coffee market is fiercely competitive—how does one survive and grow? VCU continuously strives to build a reputable brand image by offering high-quality products and professional, dedicated service.
Our business goal is always to prioritize product quality and customer satisfaction. With our company established and our factory located in the coffee-producing region of Gia Lai, we purchase coffee directly from large farmers and connect with hundreds of smallholder farmers.
