Excelsa coffee is a variety of Liberica, known in Vietnam as Jackfruit Coffee. This type of coffee is highly resistant to drought and pests, thriving in harsh climatic conditions. It is characterized by a faint aroma, a scent of ripe jackfruit, and a refreshing acidity.

Characteristics of Excelsa Coffee

Cultivation Characteristics:

  • Grown as a single species, creating lush green coffee forests.
  • Often used as windbreaks to protect coffee plots from natural elements. In some areas, Excelsa is intercropped with Robusta or Arabica.
  • Suitable for humid tropical climates, with an average temperature of 18°C to 25°C, average rainfall of 1500 to 2000 mm, and altitudes from 400 to 1800 meters above sea level.

Harvesting:

  • Excelsa coffee blooms later than other types of coffee, so the harvest season typically occurs in December, giving it a unique flavor.

Flavor:

  • Complex and multidimensional. It is a unique blend of refreshing fruit acidity, the scent of ripe jackfruit, and a hint of malty sweetness. All these create an unforgettable coffee experience.
  • Lower caffeine content compared to other types of coffee, making it suitable for those sensitive to caffeine.
  • The multidimensional flavor of Excelsa Clean has made it an ideal ingredient for blending with other coffees, creating diverse and rich flavors.
