Tata Blend Coffee

Introduction to Tata Blend Coffee

Tata Blend coffee is a line of roasted/ground coffee under the VCU brand. The coffee is 100% naturally roasted, without any flavoring or additives, in order to fully preserve the original taste and unique characteristics of its origin and variety.

For Tata Blend, also known as blended coffee, the term does not refer to butter-flavored or artificially mixed coffee. Instead, it refers to pure coffee made by mixing Robusta and Arabica in specific ratios to create the desired flavor.

Blending aims to balance the flavor between Robusta and Arabica, resulting in a profile that matches customer preferences, or to optimize costs, since Arabica is generally priced higher than the market average.

Some Robusta – Arabica Blending Formulas

  • Robusta 80% – Arabica 20%: a cup of strong, traditional coffee.

  • Robusta 60% – Arabica 40%: a lighter cup with a rich aroma. However, note that too much Arabica may result in higher acidity.

  • Arabica 70% – Robusta 30%: a balanced cup, not too bitter, with a hint of bright acidity.

  • Robusta 70% – Arabica 30%: bold, bitter, and traditional, yet with a touch of lingering acidity.

  • Arabica 80% – Robusta 20%: Arabica’s signature acidity and sweetness, blended with a slight bitterness from Robusta.

Typically, for coffee shops serving a male customer base, a mix of 60% Robusta – 30% Arabica – 10% Culi can create a bold, bitter, and stimulating coffee. Conversely, for female customers, reducing Robusta and increasing Arabica can deliver a smoother cup with lighter bitterness and refreshing acidity.
